Posted on Google David GarrityTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have been looking for a locally owned, skilled automotive business that’s not a box shop for some time. Had a headlight out, quickly learned it was a special part, circled back 3 weeks later and they remembered my situation, got me scheduled and out the door within 2 hours. I think they may even have secured the part in advance once I confirmed the appointment. Good messaging technology as well. Found my place.Posted on Google Dylan DesommaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. First time visiting and was very impressed with the courtesy and professionalism of the employees. I have been looking for a place to keep my Jaguar Fpace maintained instead of taking to a dealership to get basic maintenance items done. Prices much more reasonable than the dealerships. I will continue visiting Franklynn anytime I need work done for my car. When I got into my car a delicious cookie was placed on my dashboard. Nice touch.Posted on Google Derek DewarTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Classic car owners, look no further. I have a 1963 Chrysler Newport I have brought to Franklynn to work on over the past few months. Classic cars are notoriously finicky and require second, third, and fourth looks for certain issues, namely the issue I was having with fuel and ignition. Franklynn was and continues to be absolutely world class. They stand by their warranty to an unfaltering level, they have countlessly brought the car back in to run diagnostics and have performed multiple repairs for no additional charge under said warranty. Steve is knowledgeable and never questioned the symptoms that I informed him of and continues to seek alternate solutions and multiple viewpoints for a certain problem. I would recommend this shop for classic car owners. They also have done repairs on my 1998 Lincoln Continental including air suspension work, which as I have come to understand is very difficult to find a shop willing to do this for a 90s Lincoln. Great bunch of lads.

Frequently Asked Questions:
The check engine light means the vehicle’s onboard computer has detected a problem involving the engine, fuel, ignition, emissions or another monitored system. Possible causes range from a loose or damaged gas cap to an engine misfire, faulty sensor, air leak or catalytic-converter concern. The light identifies that a fault was detected, but it does not reveal the exact repair needed.
A steady light typically indicates a problem that should be diagnosed soon, although it may not require an immediate roadside stop. A flashing check engine light is more serious and frequently indicates an active misfire that could damage the catalytic converter. If the light flashes, reduce speed, avoid hard acceleration and pull over when it is safe. The vehicle may need to be towed, particularly if it is shaking, losing power or producing unusual odors. AAA explains the difference between steady and flashing check engine lights.
It depends on the warning and how the vehicle is operating. If the light is steady and the vehicle drives normally, a short trip to a repair facility may be reasonable. Schedule diagnostic service promptly rather than ignoring the light. Stop driving if the light flashes or the vehicle shakes, overheats, loses significant power, makes unusual noises or displays additional warning lights.
Yes. A loose, damaged or missing gas cap can allow fuel vapors to escape and trigger an evaporative-emissions code. Check that the cap is installed and tightened correctly. The light may not turn off immediately because the vehicle must complete additional system tests. If the light remains on, diagnostic testing is still needed rather than assuming the gas cap is responsible.
No. A code scan retrieves diagnostic trouble codes stored by the vehicle’s computer. Those codes identify the system or operating condition in which the fault was detected, but they do not always identify a failed part. For example, an oxygen-sensor code could be related to the sensor, wiring, an exhaust leak, a fuel-delivery problem or another condition affecting its readings. Additional testing helps avoid replacing parts based only on a code. AAA describes trouble codes as important diagnostic clues rather than automatic repair instructions.
The process generally begins with retrieving codes and reviewing relevant vehicle data. Depending on the fault, the technician may inspect wiring and connections, evaluate sensor readings, test ignition or fuel components, check for vacuum or exhaust leaks, or perform other system-specific tests. Intermittent problems may require additional time because the condition must sometimes be reproduced before its cause can be confirmed.
No. Clearing a code only removes stored information and turns off the warning temporarily. If the underlying condition remains, the light will usually return. Clearing codes may also reset emissions readiness monitors, which can interfere with an upcoming emissions inspection until the vehicle completes the required drive cycles. The cause should be diagnosed and corrected before codes are cleared as part of the repair process.
Franklynn Automotive provides check engine light diagnostics and related repairs for drivers in Littleton, Highlands Ranch and nearby communities. Whether the light is steady, flashing or accompanied by poor performance, schedule an appointment so the underlying cause can be tested before parts or repairs are recommended.
