Steve returned my call, scheduled a time to review my RV's problem. He estimated only 1 hour of labor plus part. This is exactly what I was billed. Steve and Bill, a mechanic, were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Emma B

I brought my 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport to Franklynn Automotive to get a second opinion for a faulty turbo that was recently looked at by McDonald Volkswagen. I was informed by VW Service that I would need to replace my turbo and get a subsequent oil change afterwards costing $2,70000. Additionally, was charged $250.00 for the diagnostic. One of the major concerns was that the vehicle would not accelerate. I took my vehicle to get a second opinion from Franklynn Automotive who I was referred to from my wife’s best friend. Upon completion of the servicing, not only did they discover that I only had a turbo by-pass valve disconnected and a turbo hose after the intercooler hose disconnected and they did not charge me to fix this. Additionally, they changed my front and rear brakes and changed the synthetic oil for less than $800.00. This service team did phenomenal work, they also did not charge me for the initial diagnostic as well. I will be recommending them to my friends for any care service repairs and I will also become a regular customer of theirs. Satisfied customer. Ramone

A special shoutout goes to Steve, whose deep knowledge and sharp problem-solving skills ensure that even the trickiest automotive issues are diagnosed and fixed correctly. What truly sets them apart is their fair and transparent pricing. They back up every recommendation with thorough, detailed pictures of exactly what is going on. Franklynn Automotive is BY FAR, the best auto shop around! I first came to Franklynn when my air blower in my car went out. Franklynn gave me a fair price, they did a fantastic job and their customer service is excellent! Recently I came in to get new brake pads and their price was much better than their competitors near by. Franklynn Automotive stands out from other auto shops in the area with how great they treat their customers and the outstanding work they do. I recommend them to everyone I know. 10/10, FIVE STARS!!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Common warning signs include unusually loud engine or exhaust noise, rattling underneath the vehicle, a strong exhaust odor, reduced engine performance, visible rust or damage, and a check engine light. A hissing or tapping sound may indicate an exhaust leak, while a deep rumbling noise can point to a damaged muffler or exhaust pipe. Because several vehicle problems can cause similar symptoms, the complete exhaust system should be inspected before repairs are recommended.

An exhaust leak should be inspected as soon as possible. The exhaust system is designed to direct combustion gases safely away from the passenger compartment. A leak may allow harmful fumes, including carbon monoxide, to enter the vehicle under certain conditions. If occupants smell exhaust inside the cabin or experience headache, dizziness, nausea, or unusual fatigue, they should exit the vehicle, move into fresh air, and avoid driving it until the problem has been evaluated.

A vehicle may become louder because of a damaged muffler, cracked exhaust pipe, failed gasket, loose connection, broken hanger, or exhaust-manifold leak. The location and character of the sound can offer useful clues, but sound alone cannot confirm which component has failed. A professional inspection can locate the leak or damage and determine whether the affected section can be repaired or requires replacement.

The exhaust system is the complete assembly that routes exhaust gases from the engine to the rear of the vehicle. Depending on the vehicle, it may include the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, pipes, resonator, muffler, hangers, clamps, and tailpipe. The muffler is one component within that system. Its primary purpose is to reduce the noise created as exhaust gases leave the engine.

Yes. Problems involving oxygen sensors, the catalytic converter, exhaust leaks, or related engine-management components may trigger the check engine light. However, the light can indicate many different issues, so the diagnostic trouble code should not be treated as proof that a specific exhaust component has failed. Proper diagnosis may include scanning the vehicle, inspecting the exhaust system, testing sensors, and evaluating engine performance before recommending repairs.

Exhaust components are exposed to heat, moisture, vibration, road debris, and changing temperatures. Over time, these conditions can cause corrosion, cracks, loose connections, failed welds, or damaged mounting hardware. Littleton drivers may also encounter snow, ice, potholes, and winter road treatments that place additional stress on components underneath the vehicle. Short trips can contribute to internal moisture accumulation because the exhaust system may not remain hot long enough to evaporate condensation completely.

It can. A restricted catalytic converter or severely damaged exhaust component may reduce engine power, acceleration, or fuel efficiency. An exhaust leak near an oxygen sensor may also provide inaccurate information to the engine-management system. However, poor performance and increased fuel consumption have many possible causes. An inspection and diagnostic testing are needed to determine whether the exhaust system is responsible.

No. Although muffler damage is a common source of excessive noise, the problem could also involve an exhaust pipe, resonator, gasket, manifold, flex pipe, heat shield, hanger, or connection. A loose heat shield may create a metallic rattle, while a small leak can produce a ticking or hissing sound. Inspecting the entire system helps avoid replacing a muffler when another component is causing the noise.

That depends on the location, extent, and cause of the damage. Some isolated problems may be corrected by replacing a gasket, clamp, hanger, or damaged exhaust section. Extensive corrosion, multiple leaks, or internal failure of a muffler or catalytic converter may require component replacement. A technician should inspect the system before determining the most appropriate repair. Replacing the entire exhaust system is not automatically necessary.

Franklynn Automotive provides muffler and exhaust-system inspection, diagnosis, and repair for drivers in Littleton, Highlands Ranch, and nearby communities. The team can evaluate excessive noise, exhaust odors, rattles, check engine lights, damaged pipes, catalytic-converter concerns, and other exhaust-system symptoms. Scheduling an inspection early can help identify the affected component before the problem creates additional noise, performance concerns, or potential exposure to exhaust fumes.
